Manhole Rehabilitation
Semtex Trenchless Solutions provides rehabilitation of wastewater, stormwater and industrial manholes, chambers and access structures.
Manholes can deteriorate through groundwater infiltration, hydrogen sulphide attack, chemical exposure, corrosion, erosion, structural movement and long-term wear. The rehabilitation system is selected after assessing the substrate, structural condition, moisture, groundwater and service environment.
Our capabilities include:
High-pressure cleaning and surface preparation
Removal of loose concrete and failed coatings
Crack and joint repair
Leak sealing and infiltration control
Chemical or cementitious grouting
Bench and channel reconstruction
Pipe connection repairs
Cementitious and calcium-aluminate lining
Epoxy, polymer and corrosion-resistant coatings
Structural lining systems
Manhole sealing and protective rehabilitation
Common defects treated
Hydrogen sulphide corrosion
Concrete and mortar loss
Exposed aggregate or reinforcement
Cracking and failed construction joints
Groundwater infiltration
Deteriorated channels and benches
Corroded metal components
Root intrusion and defective pipe connections
Chemical attack and surface erosion
Rehabilitation process
The structure is cleaned and defective material is removed to expose a sound substrate. Active leakage is sealed, cracks and voids are repaired, and channels or benches are reinstated as required. The selected lining or coating system is then applied at the specified thickness and allowed to cure under controlled conditions.
Depending on the project, materials may include rapid-setting repair mortars, calcium-aluminate cement, fibre-reinforced cementitious liners, epoxy coatings, polyurethane or polyurea systems, structural composites and specialist chemical grout.
Quality and design considerations
Product selection considers substrate compatibility, moisture tolerance, groundwater pressure, chemical and abrasion exposure, surface preparation, required thickness, cure time and design life. Completed work may be supported by thickness records, environmental checks, photographs, adhesion or holiday testing and final inspection.
